Jason Thomas

President

Jason Thomas, President, and Founder of REMCAN, is a dynamic and pioneering leader who draws on his extensive experience in the railway industry to inform his vision, strategic initiatives, and mentorship. He is passionate about delivering high quality, innovative, and safety-enhanced services to railway track owners and operators across Canada and the United States and works directly with REMCAN’s leadership team to fully optimize operational performance.

Recognized for his ability to understand the complex dynamics of a business challenge and for his rail and construction knowledge, he knows how to foster a shared vision for progress and growth and to engage teams within a dynamic culture. His passion lies in the growth and development of his people and uses his hands on approach to enhance the skills and personal well-being of his leadership teams, operators, and field employees.

Under his direction, REMCAN has grown from a culvert and bridge installation and repair business to a multi-faceted nationally recognized rail industry leader in maintenance and construction. REMCAN has received WCB’s COR certification as well as its bronze level certification with Progressive Aboriginal Relations under the CCAB.

Miguel Ouellette

Senior Vice President, Canadian Operations

Miguel Ouellette, Senior Vice President of Canadian Operations, has been working in the rail industry for 16+ years. Miguel has developed and refined approaches in executing large-scale capital projects in rail infrastructure and overall management of operations.

Miguel is dedicated to progressing REMCAN’s project execution, team collaboration, and negotiating key contracts while strengthening partnerships with rail companies across Canada. As someone who has continually progressed in management roles in the industry, Miguel is adaptable and can respond to the ever-changing challenges and environments. 

Miguel is an experienced senior leader who in known within the industry to be successful at delivering projects safely, under budget, while maintaining a high-level of client satisfaction.  Taking on the challenges of Canadian Operations at REMCAN will allow Miguel to further develop his skillset as an integral part of REMCAN’s future.

Bhupinder Basra

Vice President, Finance

Bhupinder Basra, Vice President of Finance, is responsible for the financial well being of the company, information technology and supply chain for both Canada and the US. Bhupinder works closely with both the President and Board of Directors on the company’s strategic initiatives including mergers and acquisitions, and overall growth strategy.  She brings years of experience from the mining and industrial equipment sector and is skilled with process improvement and reaching targets. Bhupinder is particularly adept at identifying opportunities for growth and has instituted tighter financial controls and processes at REMCAN. Her leadership style of tight-knit team management, and empowered execution has allowed her to make impactful changes in the company and within the community she cares so deeply about.

Bhupinder is a Chartered Professional Accountant, received her BA in Economics from the University of Victoria and holds an MBA from the Kelley School of Business.

Patrik Eliasson

Vice President, Signals and Communications

Patrik Eliasson, Vice President of Signals and Communications is a strong leader with a passion for people who is responsible for supporting pre-construction and Signals & Communications with REMCAN.

Due to his project management background, Patrik offers a unique perspective and facilitates operations management differently. His 30 years of experience in management have solidified the values of safety and communication.  Embodying an entrepreneurial spirit in the company, Patrik is focused on instilling accountability and integrity in his teams. He is a positive influencer, and a mentor figure for the company.

In his experience prior to REMCAN, Patrik has managed large projects as an Operations Manager in commercial development and infrastructure projects.  Patrik is highly focused on managing change and is driven by solutions.   

David Spata

Vice President, Estimating and Projects

Dave Spata, Vice President of Estimating and Projects, joined REMCAN in April 2014 with over 20 years of railway experience.  Dave has held positions in management as well as technical roles at BC Rail, CN and CP where he developed a strong understanding of core operational functions as well as integrational efficiencies. With an extensive knowledge of the rail industry and having been involved in many facets of rail operations throughout his career, David provides a unique perspective ensuring a seamless workflow between the field and the office as the Vice President, Technical Services.

In addition to being REMCAN’s Chief Estimator, David also has operating responsibility for the Project team, Bridges & Structures and Flagging Departments.
